NFL offseason power rankings: No. 16 Houston Texans hope C.J. Stroud rediscovers rookie form

The Texans had a strong season last year, finishing with a 12-4 record and clinching their second consecutive division title. Led by star quarterback Deshaun Watson, the team’s offense was firing on all cylinders throughout the season. Watson’s ability to make plays with both his arm and his legs kept opposing defenses on their toes, while his leadership on and off the field inspired his teammates to elevate their game. The Texans’ receiving corps, led by DeAndre Hopkins, provided Watson with reliable targets downfield, and the running game, spearheaded by Carlos Hyde, kept defenses honest with its ability to move the chains. The offensive line also did a commendable job of protecting Watson, allowing him to survey the field and make the necessary throws to keep the chains moving and put points on the board.

Defensively, the Texans were no slouch either, boasting a top-ten unit that was able to stifle opposing offenses and create turnovers. Led by standout players like J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus, the Texans’ defense was able to pressure quarterbacks and stop the run effectively, creating opportunities for the offense to capitalize on. The secondary, anchored by veterans like Johnathan Joseph and Justin Reid, also played a key role in shutting down opposing passing attacks and limiting big plays. With a balanced and well-rounded team on both sides of the ball, the Texans were able to secure their second straight division title and make a deep playoff run. Heading into the next season, the Texans will look to build on their success and continue their winning ways as they strive for even greater achievements.
